Clarke
Officer Lyn Philips was too young for me, too inexperienced, and too naive for the things I wanted to do to him. Staying away from him was imperative, but it might take more control than I possessed. When Lyn is threatened, all bets are off.
Lyn
The man I wanted to create a life with didn't want that life, or me. After waiting an eternity for Sgt. Victor Clarke to make up his mind whether he wanted me or not, I decided to create the life I wanted, even if the man I was in love with wasn't going to be in it.
When the carefully constructed life I had created was threatened, I had no choice but to call in the SWAT team, even if it meant letting Clarke back into my world. I just hoped I could let him go when the time came, because I knew it would. Clarke had made it more than clear that he didn't want me and nothing would change that, not even a threat on my life.
It has been forever since I first fell in love with Lyn in Stormy Glenn’s original series, ‘Hot Mess’. I’ve waited patiently for her to begin this spin-off and I was not disappointed in the least. ‘Waiting for Him’ was everything I wanted Lyn and Clarke’s love story to be along with a few surprises I hadn’t expected.
Lyn is a computer genius who has worked on Sal Delvecchio’s SWAT team for the last ten years. He’s also been in love with Victor Clarke, Sal’s second-in-command, for the same amount of time. Clarke shares those feelings but he has been denying them to himself in order to prevent Lyn from being hurt by him. Stupid man. Lyn’s been hurt more times than he can count by Clarke’s refusal to be in a relationship with him.
I cheered Lyn on when he decided to make a huge change in his life in order to get what he has always wanted - a family. Granted, this huge change involves a new house and a new job, but I knew Lyn would always remain friends with Lany and Eddie so I crossed my fingers and watched Lyn fly. Of course, I wasn’t anticipating him ending up beat up, in an alley, with a dead body lying across from him. Huh.
This first book in a new series has excitement, adventure, action, seriously hot sex, and an adorable geek paired with a muscled SWAT officer. Life doesn’t get much better than this. I can’t wait for the next installment. I’m curious to know whether the author is going to stick to writing about Lyn and Clarke much like the ‘Hot Mess’ series is all about Sal and Lany, or if she’ll vary it with love stories for some other characters I’ve been wanting to see. Burke, by any chance?
