Book Review

For some men, especially those in demanding jobs where everyone expects them to be in charge and strong all the time, the need to let go in the bedroom is a very tough one to admit. It impacts their self-image as a man, since society has some very clear (if mistaken) ideas about what a man should be like and how he should behave. The contradiction they see between what they need to be like on the job versus what they want to be off the job is difficult to reconcile.

This is the story of Chip, one such man who is a homicide cop, who finds Dawson, a vice cop, who understands what he needs. The journey toward acceptance of himself, the understanding that Daws can give him what he wants and not think less of him than a man is a tough one. He wants only to experiment at first, but once he knows what it's like to be dominated, to be told what to do, and to be free of all responsibility and decision-making, he knows he needs more. And that is when his real battle with his inner demons starts.

Dawson is one of those men who enjoys being in charge – on and off the job, He has been watching and lusting after Chip for a while, but knows he has to tread carefully or lose any chance of opening Chip's eyes. He is great at moving at Chip's speed, and there isn’t even a hint of "forcing" Chip into a situation he isn't ready for. For Dawson the battle is all about holding back the emotions that quickly spring up once they start interacting, and he does an excellent job here as well.

The scenes they have together as they learn each other's preferences are also very hot, and it is obvious that they share more than the need of a sub for a Dom and vice versa. If you like books about sexual self-discovery, if you enjoy strong men dealing with their deepest needs and learning that submission is not about being the weaker link, and if you like hot, kinky action, then you will probably enjoy reading this book.
