There's nothing scarier than the truth...

Noel's got issues. Like, he doesn't know what to call his lover. Are they boyfriends? A fling that got out of control? Something more? Even worse, he may sometimes get waylaid by a random ghost or two.

Or else he's losing his mind.

Now Adam? He's stable and solid and warm; the kind of guy Noel never knew he wanted. He's also the historian on Haunts and Hoaxes, which gives him a professional interest in Noel's "special talent".

When the ghosthunting crew turns up something weirder than normal at a Louisiana plantation, Adam convinces Noel to check it out. Instead of finding a haunt, they uncover a mystery. Noel used to be a cop and he grabs the chance to investigate something real. DNA is evidence. No matter what Adam says, the ghosts don't prove anything.

But the past is done hiding and the spirits are going to have their say. Noel better figure out how to listen, because Adam's job, their relationship, and even his sanity are at risk.

Book Review

“You’re the best thing I never knew I needed.” — Author Unknown

Noel and Adam, of ‘Harrowed’ by Irene Preston and Liv Rancourt, have been together, so to speak, for about two months now. The sex is fantastic, but the emotions between them are confusing. Neither are sure about what the other one wants. They had better figure it out or possibly miss out on what could be the best thing they may ever have.

To say that Noel is high maintenance is an understatement. He is grumpy, sarcastic, and challenging. Noel tells Adam about his experiences with ghosts, but he isn’t sure Adam believes him. Noel doesn’t want to consider it himself, but he knows he is not crazy. He hates that he had to leave his job as a detective for the police department. When Noel’s paranormal experiences occur, he completely looses control of his faculties, rendering him unreliable. Without his reliability Noel can’t be a cop, and he hates it. All he ever wanted to do was be a police officer and now he has lost his dream.

Adam doesn’t think that Noel is making up his “encounters” but, even though his job is a commentator on a ghost chasing show, he has never actually seen a ghost. After learning of Noel’s “superpowers”, as he dubs them, Adam revisits unexplained occurrences on past shows. One, in particular, stands out. It involves a legend in Natchitoches about a black couple who escaped from slavery. During the filming of that program, there were anomalies no one could explain. Adam decides he wants to revisit the site, look at it with fresh eyes, and take Noel with him to test his “superpowers”. However, he is not sure Noel will go with him, but when he agrees, it delights Adam.

‘Harrowed’ is an excellent follow-up story to the first book in the series, ‘Haunted.’ Noel and Adam are well-developed characters and make the sheets positively sizzle! Honestly, I’m not sure I could have put up with Noel because he was so difficult, but am delighted Adam found a way to “tame the savage beast” and get Noel to open up to him. They make an interesting, intense couple and I wasn’t ready to let them go. Thanks, Irene and Liv. Any chance for more adventures for these guys?
